Breakfasts in Chimitá, Girón
[31-12-2010] On the morning of the 31st of December 2010 we have provided over 320 meals to children and their mothers who have been displaced as a consequence of heavy flooding in Chimitá, Giron (near Bucaramanga). All of them already lived in slums, and had to abandon their living space due to the continous bad weather in the area. Together with eight locals we handed out breakfasts rich in protein, and provided fruit to all. Some of the breakfasts were packed and handed out for lunch to displaced elderly people, suffering the same conditions as the children. Although the first campaign has been a success, we do realize that we can not make a sustainable difference for many of them.
